The US could probably find a lot of cost savings by forward deploying subs like this in the Mideast, Pacific and maybe the Baltics. They appear to be capable, modern, have shallow drafts and are affordable. When a crisis emerges surge the nuclear boats to the region when you need larger magazines or longer endurance.
