You’re talking about it like there’s only one variety of basil, like Italian and Thai are the same thing. Even in Thai basils there are many varieties, different flavor profiles and uses. I’ve never once in my life thought Thai basil overwhelmed a dish even where it’s treated as an almost vegetal component.
