At this point, I doubt if The Donald could put a carrot in a washtub.

The only emotion that lasts, according to Bukowski.

"Hearts and Minds" is a documentary. "Triumph of the Will" is a documentary. That's how documentaries work, otherwise they would be super boring.

And neither have a workable plan to bring the jobs back. You could shut the doors on foreign workers completely and put a 600% tax on imports, and those lost well-paying blue-collar factory jobs still aren't coming back.

In an earlier time, he'd be called a muckraker. I'm fine with that! His movies are at times preachy but they are entertaining.

My favorite episode is where he went to a decommissioned missile base in Russia - his schtick was that he wanted to see the missile that was pointed at Flint. He goes to the rickety front gate, sits there with a translator, does this long spiel. The translator tells the guard, the guard listens, then says a few words.

That was him? Probably the best part of the movie. That Beach Boys song is really moving, I've cried to it before also.

From somebody who lived 20 miles away from Kaiser Steel in Fontana, I'd rather not relive this nightmare. City of Quartz has a great final chapter about the history of Fontana. It took me a while to warm to his academic writing style, but Mike Davis researched the hell out of it, and I learned many things I didn't

"She's got huge…tracts of land!"

This money's all folded over!

Also, that guy NEVER does the dishes.

Probably, like me, she saw Cabin Boy on antenna TV last week and thought "I need more humor like that!"

(light changes from green to yellow in slo-mo) "NOOOOOO!!!!!!"

So we're going with the "FRAUD AT POLLS!" headline?

I've got a million guys here who could give me that Leonard Cohen feel!

Hi-diddly-ho there, Mr. Reaper!

Wow this was a great review, probably the best I've ever read on this site. I don't really like Norm MacDonald's humor, but reading this review makes me want to read the book now. Written from a place of deep respect and, if I'm not mistaken, awe. Nicely done!

I like the dead, they follow this line of great American songs and songwriting, and their concerts could be transcendent. but the few concerts I went to in the mid 80s were underwhelming. I think I must have seen them during the smacked out Jerry years. Drums to space to not fade away, every single time.

IIRC they are diced but you can get them without. Mustard comes standard too. I now live in nor cal which is a burger wasteland, including smash burger and the habit.

aka Helman's Big H sauce. In-N-Out does this too. Get 'ketchup instead" and a grilled slice of onion. Good stuff!
