I don’t really see how that’s cheese. In the context of Overwatch very few characters/abilities take “skill”- it’s a game that fundamentally revolves around hero switching, counters and communication. It’s very easy to see that the enemy team suddenly has a Bastion and plan accordingly.

They could, but they want to pursue a “unified model” approach, where the game doesn’t “cheat” by using a bunch of insanely distorted models for the first person view. They want to be able to make an animation, and have it work for everything.
