I use switcher too, but I also find it a bit unpolished, buggy (it just stops working after a while sometimes and I have to restart it), and it hasn't been updated since 2007. I haven't found anything I like better, but I wouldn't be jumping to recommend it as a top notch application either.

Bing's tools haven't required IE for quite a while. The current version of this in bing maps, which is a bit simpler, works fine in firefox. I've started using bing maps some in general because it works smoothly and google maps seems to have gotten very slow to load when zooming and such in the past couple months -

I'm guessing the video is a newer, development version of what they are using now, which is a static panorama and doesn't have any of the animations, but has most of the other features. Also, it seems to work fairly well for me, it's just not quite as intuitive as this (90 degree buttons in both directions would be

Somehow between a Japanese company and a Sweedish company, I would have to guess translation error before assuming someone was really stupid enough to request audio files by fax. Perhaps something that translates literally as facsimile?

Count me among the confused - I grew up in the NW and have never heard that men shouldn't wear shorts aside from in office dress codes. It's not even that hot here, though it's prime hiking territory (though certainly you want pants if you go off-trail, tons of poison oak/ivy). I do most of my urban treks and

I do this on android kind of, but on the ipod touch I just put all the stuff of one type in the folder, and keep productivity and games on separate homescreens. Trying to orient the screen layout itself like this is irritating on iOS since you can't just place icons anywhere on the grid.

@dino_the_dino Not saying this is typical, but found your comment funny because I actually have several spare laptop bags from past laptops, and when I use them, I usually have a bunch of other random crap in them. When I was running around doing some legal/financial work last year, I used one to carry paperwork and

These days *most* people I know carry all their gear in a messenger bag or the like unless they're suits with their work provided laptop bags. Netbooks, iphones, ipods, P&S cameras - all these small gadgets that are nice and easy to pawn off, and people not only carry them in messenger bags and purses, they buy them

Indeed it is, and now Durarara (same production house, similar chaos) as well. The others mentioned might fit his tastes better, but these shows are too good to pass up.

Always link to the original with xkcd - it's not worth it without the mouseovers. :)

@jetRink - actually, the legal inability to commit murder has come damn close to driving me to drugs instead some days. ;o)

Correct, but my Intel SATA2 ports are in use for RAID. And some people actually want that read speed for certain tasks, if that's why they bought the SSD.

If you are using a non-Intel disk controller, be sure it properly supports TRIM as well. My Marvell SATA controller (forget the model but it's on several ASUS boards) does not pass TRIM commands (much to the chagrin of many users), but Win7 detects the drive as an SSD and enables it by default. As a result, Win 7 has

6x4.5/6x6/6x7 film cameras are still the go-to for pros that do large prints and don't have the 15-30k for a digital Hasselblad :)

For the curious re: message:

"It's uncertain why Japan would choose to evacuate villages outside of the official zone rather than just expanding the zone itself"

"Though I'm leery of movies and TV shows that portray nerds as funny-looking weirdos with no social skills..."

Note that the prices in the article are often way off, the ebay prices seem to be based off listings rather than sales, and the prices including broken cameras for the starting price is just dang silly. The Medium format cameras in particular cost a bit more, especially if you need additional pieces (the TTL

yup.

Yeah, likewise, my friend didn't register his account because he was more interested in starting the single player the first night, and now we're stuck unable to play either version because he can't get the PC version either. Sucks.
