You could dope figureskating; higher muscle mass to be able to do quads easier, more stamina to not flag at the end of your routine etc.

I think what he was getting at was that the atmosphere of the setting was spot on but the game itself had modern gaming sensibilities like saving / quick travel etc. You can make a game that feels “authentic” but also be modernized system wise.
