easy to be snarky about this, but that’s very generous - particularly for a bunch who are famously um ungenerous? But wasn’t the sample from a cheesey Pops recording of the LSO doing Last Time, not the Stones original version? (I’d love to hear the story on how that sample wasn’t cleared. Was it a mistake or did

CM... was a very mediocre movie though.

I think they are going to find out it doesn’t really matter. I saw Capt Marvel and it was super “meh”. Middle of the pack Marvel , probably somewhere in the 12-15 range. of the 22.

Probably one who didn’t obsessively read the novels and the official Trek Encyclopedia like I did.  Trust me, you’re not missing anything by not having all of these made up facts swirling around your head.

Excuse me you are the one defending a multimillionaire actress as if she is a victim. I’m merely stating there is plenty to criticize about the movie and her acting. Just because she is a woman does not make her immune to criticism. If you have the urge to silence people’s opinions that’s on you. Its not being a

Arnold is on Reddit all the time. He’s very active there and responds to a lot of the people that talk to him. He’s also very funny on there. This is not a surprise to me.

How did you verify that all the negative reviews were because of online sexist campaigns? Maybe a bunch of people just think it isn’t a good movie and she isn’t a good actress? I’m one of them. But I guess that’s not an allowed opinion any more.

Is it entirely possible for a man to have paid for the ticket, watch the film, and still not like it because it wasn’t a good film, and not because it has a woman lead what-so-ever, but because it just wasn’t a good film, and at the same time also not be called names like man-baby?

Considerably. Picard the character was when 59 he took command of the Enterprise in Encounter at Farpoint, where Stewart the actor was only 47.

I think I agree with some of this analysis but not all of it. The problem with Solo and some of the other Star Wars films is that it really narrowed the scope of the Star Wars galaxy. More troubling it also remade a beloved hero into something else which really diluted this character in a way that was narratively

Rogue One is not really a “deep cut” movie. It has Tarkin, Vader, Leia, and the Death Star, which is central to the plot, and it ends hours or minutes before A New Hope. It was about the safest choice Lucasfilm could make for a spinoff movie that didn’t focus on the principal characters.

It also demonstrated that making an EU-type story for the movies really wouldn’t connect with the audience, beyond the 15% of the viewers who care about “deep cuts” like Teras Kasi.

It will be a colossal missed opportunity if the following doesn’t come into play, or even drive the narrative.

Solo’s legacy is that it revealed that putting “Star Wars” in a movie title was no guarantee of success. That must’ve been harrowing. It also demonstrated that making an EU-type story for the movies really wouldn’t connect with the audience, beyond the 15% of the viewers who care about “deep cuts” like Teras Kasi.

At least Star Trek 5 has some redeeming character moments - Insurrection is like someone made an hour and a half long Dr. Crusher episode and then CTRL-F’d to swap Crusher and Picard.

Nemesis isn’t good, but I must admit it’s not “doesn’t exist” bad for me. The only Trek film that I hate that much is Star Trek V: What Does God Need with a Starship?

18 years...that’s more than enough time for B-4 to evolve into Data-2, right?

I feel this show could either be something absolutely amazing, or a cluster**k of epic proportions. I really hope since they managed to convince Patrick Stewart to return to this that he thinks it’s going to be great, but I’m still worried!

“Why did you leave Starfleet, Admiral?”

Another show I’ll never see due to having no desire to pay for ANOTHER streaming service. Just put it on regular fucking TV.
