I think it just gave Adele a chance to sing even though she’s not the musical guest. I was fine with that.

Let’s just hope there’s not another “emails” press conference in the coming days (Lord knows they tried).
The most anger we see is, “Come on, MAN!”
Oh, they “treated him very badly,” “treated him badly” they did!
I was just about to say something similar. The 1997 TV version was excellent. Emilia Fox was perfect as The Second Mrs. de Winter, as well, I thought.
Didn’t Che make a joke in the last couple of episodes about inviting Trump on the show?
It’s actually a trilogy, all about the same train.
This show was always perfectly fine to have on in the background while I was at the laundromat.
So, just like Wonder Woman!
They all write like fanboys.
Agreed, it’s not that you can’t do it, but you need to do it well. Chibnall has never earned the reputation as an imaginative powerhouse or superb storyteller like Moffat or RTD, and unsurprisingly he bungled what should have been one of the largest revelations in the show’s history.
The Cartmel Masterplan never sounded all that great, but it was leagues better than this.
We’ve all been there with a favorite Doctor!
That’s a good point, and it jives with the current obsession with personal trauma. I do think it more interesting that the Doctor was a rebel from his stagnant society who discovered his innate sense of good as he ventured out into the universe.
As soon as Dr. Ruth blankly stated, “Hello, I am the Doctor,” my stomach sank and I knew we were for in for a sh*tshow. The rumors were true.
It was just awful. And I think Chibnall’s only reasons for that plot twist were a.) to fulfill a BBC edict that ANYONE can be the Doctor - never mind that they already hired Jodie! and b.) a fanwank canonization of an obscure, vague discrepancy presented in one 1970s episode. If this plot twist was created in service…
I feel like Capaldi’s run was over before it began. It didn’t help that Clara stuck around for most of it, making his first two years seem like an extension of the Matt Smith era.
Roger Delgado’s tragic death truly did deflate the end of Pertwee’s era. The original planned ending for the season with the final confrontation between the old enemies would have been epic.
Yeah, I’d like to see Jodie paired with a better showrunner. The three seasons, Doctor leaves with the producer rule just doesn’t have to be.
Maybe Yaz will finally get some development. Maybe.
