My wife (just married sunday!) and I got this because she never games, and since the quarantine is happening, i thought this lax , mellow game was perfect to start her out on. I’m the primary on our island and we just decide together on arrangements. Got a Switch Lite today so I can play with her

It’s always great having a other half who is not usually into games, but every so often a game drops that just sucks them into it’s void for weeks on end if not longer. That moment when they realize that they understand why you game and give you that look and you both just connect with or without words. That is the

It’s the Great British Bake Off of video games

Other games could learn from Animal Crossing’s rewards system. Many continuously recycling small goals that give small rewards, which feed into larger goals with larger rewards. These efforts later get used to reach another goal that happens farther down the line. And then by that point, players have self-made goals

I just wish I could give him a mouse and watch him go “OH FUCK YEAH (CHOMP)

I’m not here for any take that involves complaining that a cartoon raccoon child says “thank you” for visiting his store.

Blathers has had 10+ or so years to get used to villagers giving him bugs and he still acts like a wuss on em.

Hahaha and he’s creepy as fuck, too.

Like many others this is my first Animal Crossing game, bought out of hype and also a little bit of what I’m going to call quarantine curiosity. I let my wife play first not knowing anything about the multiplayer and how there is only one island per Switch, and you know what, it turned out to be the best decision

I feel like if you can’t enjoy Animal Crossing you need to take a long hard look deep into your soul and figure out why.

Fuck that fake easter bunny. I need lumber and other resources, not eggs. I think it was Kirk (sorry if it was Maddy or Jason) that speculated how much this would suck for new players on Splitscreen, and he wasn’t wrong. I bought the game on the 31st and this bunny has been busting my balls ever since.

I’ll try to tell you what makes it so amazing.

It’s pretty hard to explain.

The best way i can describe it is that it’s like Nintendo’s take on the SIMS. So that brings with it the charm, humor and game design + attention to detail that Nintendo is great at plus the appeal of a SIMS game which is just living your best simulated life - bringing relaxation and therapy in as well.

Same, didn’t look interesting at all. Looked goofy, childish and shallow.

It’s just a nice relaxing game that happened to come out at a stressful time when a lot of people didn’t have much to do. It’s a vacation for everyone who can’t go on a vacation, which happens to be basically everybody right now. The multiplayer works just enough to let people get together virtually.

I’ve love to see Nintendo come forward and confirm that Audie the wolf is a reference/tribute to this lady.

There’s just something awesome about grandparents who get into games.

I was impressed with the less-than-subtle nod to technology-as-witchcraft or occult that the first extrapolation scene presented. That, perhaps, what is at stake here isn’t so much an ability to ‘objectively perceive’ the universe (whether many worlds or not), but instead how these perceptions - and the technology we

Just came back from the theater. This is indeed a very strong film. Has some similarities to BURNING, although I liked the somewhat more remote style of this film much better (not much of a BURNING fan). Very well-directed, looks great, tense, and the emotional beats—when they finally arrive—hit hard.
