EVs make a ton of sense for a large swath of the population. There are just a big and vocal-enough group of them that wants their vehicle to do literally everything and refuse to accept anything less. The irony is that, as a 2nd vehicle, an EV makes a ton of sense for that population, too.

Yup.
Annie Dillard described that urge as being like a well, that there was no point in saving creativity up, that it’s better to spend it all, as long as you can, to keep at making and doing.
But.
Even using her own analogy, the well, must, as times, go through

Fuck yeah, bring back the Magnum. Criminally under-loved car. Let them stick a Hellcat engine in it, it’ll be great.

Damn shame they didn’t carry the wagon body style onto the next generation. I loved the magnum, but a classed up v8 sportwagon is what America needs right now. Bring back the 300c wagon

The car is perfect the the purpose it serves. Powerful enough, handsome enough, big enough and cheap enough.

You must have been riding in one seriously clapped out old one. Because I have them for rentals all the time in 300S form (and the occasional Limited, sad it’s going away), and I think they are pretty great. Nice enough, quick enough, quiet and comfortable, and they go down the road much like the old Mercedes they are

Yeah I was scratching my head at the heavy revisionist history happening about ‘90s Chrysler. They had hype, the LH, the Neon, the redone Caravan and Ram had a ton of acclaim, they won awards and people were excited for their product. In the ‘90s, Chrysler was pretty good at generating excitement, and the Prowler was

No Chrysler apologist here, but I think you whiffed on the context of where Chrysler was in the early-to-mid-90's when this was designed and rolled out:

Heck, Erik is even negative about HIMSELF. What’s wrong with enjoying a glass of wine? Surely if you are ok telling a website of auto enthusiasts that you were basically sold blinker fluid (and then defending your decision), you don’t care that much about your macho-ness.

I typically don’t drink the stuff by choice,

I’ve complained about this before...

In the context of heating and cooling, heat pump refers to a device the compresses a refrigerant to a liquid state, releases the heat produced from that compression into the “hot side” and then lets that compressed refrigerant expand and turn back into a gas, thus pulling energy from its surroundings on the “cold

Although it hurts my IC heart, we need electric cars (along with a green grid and a bunch of other shit).

Many people like their cars to reflect themselves.

Are you new here or something?   This is like bread and butter to most of us.

YO! The contact page has a 949 number... that means one of these things might be chilling down in Newport right now. We need to GET ON THIS ASAP.

I love the Craigslist-level optimism.
