Except when they’re written from fear. What US deaths are the basis of nuclear power regulations? When was the last time someone died from working in or a radiological accident at nuclear power plant? You’d be far more likely to die from a safety issue at a nuclear plant than a radiological one.

Any decent sized dealer is going to want one. Maybe not free to customers, but while L2 chargers will be fine in many cases, as more EVs go on their lots there will be times when they will want it.

I was wondering how they got all that power to the ground?  Answer: they don’t.

I’m with you. Had a 2013 LEAF and the battery was degrading fast. Sold it a few months ago before the cold weather sapped the range for probably 2K more than I would have gotten in a “normal” market. I figured I’d drive my ICE car for a while and look at picking up a city car early this year, but now it sounds like

For the same reason Dodge made the Journey for so long, or still sells the 300, they are good enough, cheap, and easier to buy than the “class leading” cars from others.

Especially if you have small kids. Get them in the car around bed time, lay the car seat as far back as is safe, and let the car ride do it’s thing. You will typically have built in child care at the destination so sleeping late or taking a nap is easy.

Under-rated comment!

I don’t think he was referring to Port jobs, he was likely referring to truck drivers. Most of the noise I’ve been hearing is how getting paid by the mile doesn’t work if you loose a day’s driving to sitting in lines at the port to pick up a container. If you do get paid by the hour then each container ends up taking

Most transmissions will handle the torque just fine, it’s the RPMs that will be an issue. Few gearboxes are designed to spin at 10,000 rpm input speeds.

There are a few motors like that, but honestly building brackets to hold an electric motor to motor mounts is the easy part for any aftermarket company.

I bought a used Chysler Lebaron Turbo, I think it was a 91. It had all the toys at the time, the digital dash, climate control, power everything. Except only about 80% of it worked, the one I missed the most was the heater, the heater core was fine, but some motor in the climate control had failed and my wrenching

If I were in the market for a $50k+ EV, the i-Pace would be on my short list, but mostly because I don’t want a Tesla. The problem for Jaguar is that people like me that also have the money to buy one is not a big pool, and it’s only getting worse with the Mach-e and others coming on the market.

Move fast and break things is fucking stupid.

It’s amazing how our minds work against us though. I sold my DD EV because the battery was going bad and I got at least 2K more than I would have before this mess, but while I intend to wait this out before replacing it, I also keep shopping like I’ll find the deal everyone else is missing.

Really have to give Ford credit with this one. It’s just so versatile for the price that it’s hard to believe this segment has been empty for so long.  I wonder who else will jump into this market?

Power Wagon is definitely one of the best answers. Like the original Jeep it was built because of the reputation it earned serving in WWII. Like the Jeep it was the only other 4WD vehicle you could buy from the factory in 1964. Like the Jeep it was over built and under powered. Simple, rugged, adaptable they were

Guess it’s a good thing no plane has ever crashed because of autopilot because the pilots get trained and certified on these systems.

Not true. The MSRP for the base LEAF and the Bolt have dropped for 2022 because they are now competing against more advanced EVs, so they know they need better prices if anyone is going to cross shop a Bolt or LEAF/LEAF+. The current cars are getting incentives because no would have bought them otherwise.

And while true, Tesla is the poster child of “over promise and under deliver”.

The Bolt issue is likely going to be quite a while. They have to fix the batteries, even if they refurbish existing packs it will be a long time in getting them swapped and updated.  They have to set up a facility to even do so likely and that won’t happen over night.  This will not be pretty.
