It’s simple really, “crossover” customers regularly do something that “enthusiasts” tend not to, they buy new cars. Car manufacturers are in the market to sell new cars. The math really isn’t difficult to calculate.

American manufacturers have long forgotten how to build cars that people lust after and actually buy. They often design by committee and seem to let the bean counters make the final decisions. Trucks and SUV’s, they’ve got down though for crossovers and mid sized, they get crushed on fit & finish.
