I headed over to the blue stage for about 5 minutes after Real Estate ended, saw that they were having technical difficulties, and decided to head back out to see Slowdive. Having read your and others' accounts, I'm a little disappointed I didn't stay and give it a chance.

Ah, that makes sense. I thought the songs sounded way worse. I hadn't heard that they lost a guitarist.

Which bar was it? I want to know the official Lakeview AVC bar of choice.

No need to rip the audio:

He also did the exact same thing with Stop Podcasting Yourself before that (and Mohr Stories, but… yeah). He seems to have wildly different criteria for best/rest than any other reviewer, yet weirdly no editor has ever seemed to have a discussion with him about it in all the years he's been contributing to this

What happened? I stopped keeping up with it a while ago, although I did see they had ceased being weekly at the end of April.

Was it lonely working from home(?) with the rest of the staff in Chicago?

I wonder which ex-writer is going to spill the beans first about how bad the AV Club's upper management is. There has to be some behind-the-scenes reason why everyone is leaving.

Mini-movie? It's just a singing telegram!

STILL HAUNTED.

Yeah, that's how it's worked for 30 years. And there's nothing shitty about it- that's the entire basis for Final Jeopardy. The whole thing wouldn't make any sense any other way.

Wagering is done during the commercial break, before the clue is revealed.

He seemed like one of those hyper-competitive dudes who was butthurt he wasn't winning, so he was damn well going to "win" the buzzer contest on each clue at the very least.

Dik,

Phyllis's Wedding is one of the most misunderstood episodes to me.

I haven't heard the episode yet, but it definitely makes me uncomfortable sometimes when Pete tries to get too personal with a non-comedian guest. Comedians tend to be very open about their lives, mining at least some of their comedy from it, and tend to have much more of a sense of humor and perspective on

Slight wagering jitters aside, I thought Manuel seemed like a really strong contestant.

Speaking of 1999, they also played it live on The Daily Show's Greatest Millennium special. I'll always love that version, as it was one of my first exposures to the band.

Crazy podium fonts are a Ken Jennings staple! Get your own trademark thing, Julia!

Yeah, that's actually very true.
