Do you have a preferred word count? (Former reporter here :) ) Also, if you could give me an example of a post or writing style you find that folks like, I can work to it

I'm probably too late, but I'd be happy to do a write up if it's still newsworthy. Which I figure "probably not". We made 570 of 822 miles

Can I humbly submit my Baja Bug to the list?

My Class 11 team is racing it right now. Desert Dingo Racing No. 1107. We're sitting in third of five cars. Lost a shock early in the race and cannibalized two from 1121, which got knocked out with a blown transmission. Just completed a fueling at RM150, added some silt tires and are motorvating.

I apologize for asking a dumb question, but what is that little red ring thing under the front bumper I see on a lot of cars. A tow hook?

It goes without question I get stuck behind one or more Priuses every single day on my commute to and from work.

Why didn't we get to see the watermelon in slow motion?

How serious are you about that offer?

It's going in today for the first of several mods in prep for chasing the 1000.

I'm willing to bet yours is a lot more capable in the dirt than mine is.

I appreciate all the great comments. It is the weirdest thing. People take photos of it. I've had Hells Angels give me a thumbs up (it is rather loud) and last week a guy driving a very well maintained Corrado filmed it on Hwy 280 using a GoPro mounted on his roof.

Just bought it a couple weeks ago. It's got a 1951cc engine and a pro street transmission with straight cut gears. My left leg is getting to be more muscular than my right.

Here's mine. I can cruise at 65 in third without breathing hard.

It's not a spoiler if the event has already happened. Jesus you people. I guess reporters should just sit around waiting for you to give a thumbs up before writing a story.

I agree. I couldn't get a sense of speed or driver control or much of anything because of all the jump cutting. I'd have loved longer shots.

Definitely sounds like it was towed. Posting on the local Craigslist (with photos) and on TheSamba will put it in front of the most VW owner eyes.

Can someone tell me what that yellow ring is protruding from the front grill. I see those around and never got around to asking anyone what it does.

I'm with desert_hooligan on this one. Each time we've done the Baja 1000 as a lowly Class 11 (Stock Bug) team, everyone's gone without sleep for days prepping the car and dealing with all the paperwork and logistics. Contingency is great and the team autographs and gives out 5,000 hero cards (in addition to signing

Finish? For me it's win or die trying :)
