Companies bring in someone like Brett Favre for instant visibility and credibility. Sure, I’m sure they could’ve done more  exhaustive searches, but no, random investor isn’t calling Rob Gronkowski unless they have his number. And we’re at a point with social media and apps that websites aren’t proof of anything. I

Should be good to go, right?

He wrote blah blah blah. That is essentially the definition of half-assing.

She probably did speak to him after class.

the teacher’s response of being “really disappointed” in Kings response said it all. Instead of taking the opportunity to engage his learning she dismissed him. It shows both her lack of cultural understanding and empathy. Educators need to do better

This won’t resonate with people who are not/have never been teachers.

No, I am not in favor of students expressing themselves at all costs. Even if a teacher is straight up wrong, like saying, “New York City is the capital of the US.” I would not be in favor of a student saying, “You’re wrong BITCH!!!” That would be an example of a student expressing himself/herself at all costs. King’s

Ima go with what the teacher said. Fuck children who think they know shit. They don’t. By the way, “Indians” did not discover America since the Mughals weren’t sending ships around Africa to get here. So much for what this precious youngster knows.

I can totally sympathize. It is amazing the amount of kids that pay zero attention to the actual course content or they poke, prod, and misrepresent until they provoke a response and then they’ll immediately cry victim.

So, we both wonder if she actually did say that. Cool.

I am a teacher (High school math, formerly English and History), and I cannot find this amusing. I remember being 9 and getting mad when a teacher was wrong. Germany isn’t landlocked Mrs. Hampton!

While I understand your plight, and I’m certainly sure there are good people there, MSU Sports Medicine certainly needs to be held accountable here. I’m confident that in the long run, quality patient care AND not providing a monstrous child molester is not too much of an ask.

Sure they do. Giving someone a million dollars to make someone sign a document that says this was a misunderstanding, and then go away, legally never speaking of this again is cheaper than months of trial and years of bad press.

I recently re-read Obedience to Authority, in which Stanley Milgram describes how he asked people how they would act in a scenario that involved saying no when circumstances pushed a yes, and they all said they would stop and say no as soon as they wanted to, but when he put people into an actual experiment, very few

Okay, but why do you believe her? The police and the courts didn’t validate her story. I presume that you don’t think that every rape reported to the police is valid. Even I don’t believe that.

1) What does it mean to “have all the facts”? When is that a condition that ever exists when you’re trying to make an assessment? How would you even know whether that condition has been met.

No one is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to believe what is readily apparent. I have no idea why you cite “due process” as if that has any meaning to this question. I don’t need a court of law to process information. For example, I know that the Houston Astros won the World Series, and it doesn’t matter

In the case of a crime (sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment), absolutely it needs to go through the court system and adjudicated by people that have better training in gather facts, can compel evidence and have the ability to punish those that commit crimes.

Women saying “this is what happened to me” is evidence.
