Also to get reforms and societal changes in place that keep us from being here in the first place.

This is a significant moment that will only keep its meaning if America chooses to continue accountability as a matter of course.

Watching him get handcuffed and led away was strangely satisfying.

If anyone is wondering he is not still on bail while awaiting sentencing. So he can’t flee.

That’s not precisely true. Non-binary folks simply do not have a gender within the binary-that is, they don’t identify with the gender construct of “man” or the construct of “woman”. There are a lot of different ways that people identify this way, including with a third gender, with no gender (or agender), with more

Can I ask a dumb question? Why is Joan writing ‘people who do gender,’ when - google tells me non-binary means you essentially claim no gender. I just don’t quite get it.

Yes, you’re right.  The amount of alarm a positive result causes, even if it turns out to be negative, varies by the individual.  In my case, I’d still rather have a false positive than either a false negative or a missed diagnosis due to a skipped test.  I wish there was something that worked 100% for everyone.

I see what you did there. (.)(.)  ;)

I’m sorry you had such a kerfuffle (trying to think of a better word and failing) after your false positive, but I’m glad it was false. One thing many people don’t know is that if you’re in the middle of treatment for something serious, there is a clause in almost every insurance (I think it’s required, but I’m not

The ultrasound gets evaluated using the BIRADS classification system to estimate risk. Above BIRAD 3 may go biopsy which is pretty reliable for breast masses or you may monitor for size changes. We’ve had women in their 20's come through with high grade malignancies. I’d prefer more screenings, but health insurance is

“I don’t think breast cancer centers that have clear financial benefits from increasing mammography should be the ones that are giving out patient advice,

I’d rather have them not get it than ROFL.

They do look at more than just the cost over cancer costs. They also look at whether or not it saves lives and so far it hasn’t. We’ve put a lot more women through a lot more invasive procedures to determine whether something is cancer or not and woman are dying of breast cancer at the same rates as before we started

After I got mine I learned my boobs are dense, too. That tracks. Every time I tell my boobs a joke they just stare at me like they didn’t get it.

False positives lead to unnecessary further testing and - sometimes - unnecessary further procedures. Every new extra step is another opportunity for errors and false positives. Doing your best to maximize your effectiveness at the first step is in accordance with the principle of “First, do no harm.”

I’m an adoptee with zero family health history. I’m early 40's and I’d rather have an annual mammogram. I have to get the 3-D mammogram, because my boobs are dense, but it’s not a big deal.

They talk about false positives as though women are delicate little wisps who will fall apart under the spectre of a false positive. If you get a positive result on a mammogram, all that happens is that you get a sonogram. If the sonogram is positive, I don’t know what happens, because that’s as far as I’ve gotten,

Shelter Cat Update!!

Yesterday I paid off my student loans, 5 years ahead of schedule. I’ve been making triple payments for the last 16 months.

Well, the character’s name is Diana Prince, so...
