They sue the crap out of non profit ones too. Hell they target fan games for god’s sake.

Just to answer your first part: Nintendo continues to offer old ROMs via subscription and individual sale and appears to be making a decent amount of cash from it, so clearly they and consumers seem to think there’s value there and therefore Nintendo probably feels the availability of these ROMs on download sites…
From what I’ve read this case seems more damaging than most because he was charging users and the site had newer Switch games. Is it super damaging to Nintendo? Probably not too much, but if there’s a case you want legal precedent on your side, this is it.
Yes! I installed a Lutron Caseta throughout my house (20+ dimmers/plugs/switches controlling about 60 bulbs + a handful of Kasa plug switches since Lutron doesn’t make a non-dimmer plug switch) about 2.5 years ago, and it’s possibly one of the best home purchases I’ve made. Wasn’t cheap, but man it’s awesome. The…
Same. I’ve replaced every light switch in my house with a reliable Z-wave switch or dimmer, plus I have a smart thermostat. That’s about all that’s really needed without getting into these really ridiculous routines and logic controls.
“my Z-wave devices date back to 2014 and still work just as good as the day I bought them”
Had pretty much the exact opposite experience. Went from a house to an apartment. With the house, having everything automated was a huge time saver— exterior lights automatically came on at dark and off at sunrise. Sprinkler system watched the weather and only ran when necessary. Being able to control the AC without…
Yup I have one smart bulb (came free with a prime day echo purchase). Everything else I have is switches and outlets. 6 light switches control 19 lightbulbs. 3 Outlets control 3 more table lamps.
I’m really skeptical of product-less standards like Matter. It seems like a lot of these get announced in the smart home market, are in the news, and eventually result in nothing. Obligatory xkcd:
My wife isn’t very tech-savvy, and that is probably the biggest hurdle for me: making the system easy for other to operate, even when something goes wrong. I’ve done some cool stuff with smart home gear, but I inevitably end up getting a call when I’m away saying “why can’t I turn on the light?” and that spoils the…
I really wish USB pass through was more common on keyboards. The Dell keyboards we have at work have a 2 port USB hub built into them, which frequently comes in handy. But the chiclet style keyboard is terrible to type on!

I think for people over, say, 30 (maybe a little older)... it still represents a high-water mark for gaming and brings them back to their youth and a very different era of gaming.
Like Portal 3. It's not going to happen, but it'd be fun if it did. But Portal 2 gave sufficient closure...
I don’t even necessarily want Half-Life 3 or Episode 3, just more games in the universe. It’s so fertile with potential. Fun fact, I’m going to be 40 in a couple of months, so I was there for Doom 2, Quake 1->3, Half Life, Sin, Duke 3D, etc. There was a time in the early 00's where I thought I was just ‘over PC…
Every time I can think of that a follow-up game/episode/movie has been released in a franchise after a very extended delay, the fanbase has always been extremely happy with it and moves on with their lives in short order.
Explain Artifact.
Maybe it will come out when they make the Steam Switch.
I have zero investment in half life, and i promise this is a good faith question, but why in the world are people still expecting a follow-up? ARE people really expecting a follow up, or is it wishful thinking?
