I’ve always been a fan of the Panamera. I’d happily drive one! I really can’t wait to see this station wagon version. In Turbo S form, could be my new dream car (while still being able to transport 1 girlfriend and 2 other friends).

Allegedly there is a way to re-program your PTT button to act as the Home button for CarPlay, but I haven’t gotten around to researching it because I can’t be bothered to rip apart the interior of my car again.

No problem! It was something I had to figure out for myself as well. Still. Love my CarPlay

Siri will do turn-by-turn for you, if you wish. The system will also give you a nice polite chime if you’re on a call and you have a turn coming up. Also, since your phone is plugged in, you can “Hey Siri!” any time you need. “Hey Siri, call Dad’s iPhone.” “Hey Siri, text Sam that I’ll be late for dinner.” Et cetera.

I didn’t have any issues. If you want it for your Mazda 3, I highly recommend going to Crutchfield and assembling their “no hassle” kit, then buying the AppRadio from Amazon for cheaper! You can still buy the kit-bits from Crutchfield, or from Amazon.

You cannot do either. The apps are pulled from your phone, and only some apps support CarPlay. In my car, the only “extra” apps that show up (on the second page, slide just like on an iPhone) are MLB At Bat and MLB At The Ballpark. But At Bat is really nice; I use it all the time!

Interesting. Well, today I learned. It does work well as an CarPlay receiver, I can first-hand vouch for that. Just don’t make the mistake I did and only have a Lightning cable sticking out to connect your phone. Go the extra mile and make it a proper female USB. That way you can update your firmware. I’m going to fix

Have the AppRadio 4 in my MX-5. Cannot recommend it enough. For the record, and for those who have Android phones, this does Android Auto too, though I’ve not tried it.

Huh. Hate to say but I think those sun visors are more useful than in my Miata. Fold it down, can’t see out of top half of windshield.

You think crash testing autonomous cars is weird, wait until we start doing it to sentient ones.

    Uh yeah. I’d drive one.

Danggit. They’re the A19 bulbs, not the BR30...

I remember seeing something similar on NASIOC in a debate over Rotas.

Yes, but will it 1) be streamed same day and 2) have all the original music still intact?

I think the fear of cops would keep me from doing anything stupid at a C+C. When I used to autocross up in CT, the local police all knew when we were racing. They used to patrol up and down the street, heck, they watched us racing in the parking lot. But if you drove like a royal nobhandle when you headed to Wendy’s

I mean, you have to TRY to have that happen to you. Modern traction control is there to prevent such stupidity. I gave it the beans a little too much once in my Miata the other day and the rear end did nothing. The revs stopped climbing, the TC light illuminated on my dash and wouldn’t go away until I had shifted up

The cause of the crash isn’t his incompetence as a driver. That much is obvious.

Seems like today is the day we report on Hamilton breaking rules and not getting punished for it. This rule (stupid as it may be, but it’s a rule right now and rules are meant to be followed until overturned), reversing in pit lane after qualifying...

I thought I’d feel that way about my MINI. But really, when I traded it for the MX-5, I just thought “Boy, the dealer wouldn’t be giving me $4,700 for a 2008 Cooper S with 108,000 miles on it if they knew it needed $3,500 in slow burning oil leaks repaired... now where’s the button that makes the top fold down?
