Maybe Picard did save the day frequently, but there were other, fully fleshed out characters, with their own story lines on most episodes of TNG, it wasn’t solely the Picard Show.

Michael as captain is bad.
Tracking miscellaneous bridge crew again:
She was affected by Covid only in that she chose not to put herself in harm’s was by filming with ST:D for season four. She did not acquire Covid, she is staying in her social bubble, her family, and not exposing herself to possible infection... Her role was already pretty minimal this season.
Oh no! I was hoping that her not being around was due to acting not really being her primary thing and having other things going on. I hope she’s either recovered fully or is on her way there.
Doug Jones has said he’ll be back next season.
Go watch the Stamets scenes again and look at his face. He’s definitely not okay with Burnham yet.
Have you tried turning the universe off and on again?
I just figured it was a ‘we don’t have enough time or budget to do all the Kelpian makeup before we need to shoot this’ kind of story point.
Except no one is saying that Georgiou can’t ever be redeemed. The problem is that the show never tried to redeem her. They didn’t really develop Georgiou in all the episodes where she’s in the prime universe. She continued to revel in her cruelty, she joked about her sadism, she never showed regret or remorse over all…
YOU MONSTER, STOP HATING ON GRUDGE.
I do not understand what they’re doing with Mirror Georgiou. They literally introduced her by having her nuke a planet and then had her eat a sapient being. She constantly reveled in her depravity and sadism. She hasn’t shown much character growth until this episode. All they’ve done is make her snarkier.
I think Zach is spot on. This show oscillates between lazy pandering and being outright insulting. It’s georgous to look at, everyone is ACTING (in allcaps, all the time) and it moves fast. If that tips it in your favor, great. God’s speed. But beyond that, there’s no there there. This is all cover, no book. World…
I don’t understand how any of the characters can stand Mirror Georgiou. She casually jokes about all the horrific things she’s done and she delights in her own sadism, and everyone kind of just brushes it off.
P.S. For more of the Disco computer’s new “personality”, check out the Short Trek “Calypso” that premiered pre-season 2.
Is Georgiou ... necessary? Is she there to always present the possibility of a power struggle or mutiny? To be the wise, cranky cynic who sometimes helps them realize the less altruistic and idealistic way is the answer in a pinch? What is it?
As a straight white man firmly in his 50's, I don’t feel like I have a lot to say about how non-binary folks should be portrayed. But, that being said, making the non-binary folks Trills seems like a cop-out. I thought it to myself as I was watching the show, and I’m heartened to see that someone else noticed it as…
Yes to that one the one hand, but on the other hand, speaking as an expat who only sees their family in person every few years, Michael’s ‘I’m so estranged after not seeing you for a year’ came across as somewhat hyperbolic.
Judy Greer is a national treasure. She seems really put together and amazing. One can only imagine the catharsis she must gets playing Cheryl/Carol. It must be like off-gassing all your darkest impulses publicly.
Glad Archer still has some life left in it.
