The leading theory is that they didn’t know about the 5 year jump, so you’re spot on with them assuming things will just return to pre-snap times. Fits with how the episode was written and the communication wall between Marvel TV and Studios is a well-known problem. Sucks.

It seemed particularly selfish after Davis’s comment about not seeing his kid. But last season proved how far Fitz and Simmons will go for each other even at the expense of the entire world. I wished they had written them differently since the beginning of season 5, but oh well.
