Overwatch 1 has loot boxes for long tail monetization. I’m with you, I prefer that to the battle pass situation with Overwatch 2. But since loot boxes are now considered gambling, I guess they had to pivot away. It’s not ideal, but I don’t really see an ethical alternative to supporting ongoing development of the game.
