"Those cars contained aircraft components, denatured alcohol and soybeans, most of which were the aircraft components."

Doorkicker day, we'll just say SDB, JSOW, JASSM...the type of loads you'd usually expect to see lofted from stealthy platforms.

Those LO assets though also have (or should have) the benefit of high speed and the ability to prosecute the fight from 50K altitude and whatever slant range you can get from your PGMs that you're letting loose. I think I recall that SDB could see a 60-mile glide from a typical F-22 release, and hit accurately enough

Oddly enough, survivability isn't the issue here. MANPADs are. The A-10 may be able to slug off a MANPAD hit at low level, but the F-35 at high level won't face that issue at all. The survivability argument thus becomes a moot point.

The A-10 is the best at what it is but what it is isn't very nice.

The Air Force's rationale for retiring the A-10 is perfectly valid. The original mission it was designed for was to bust hordes of T-72s flooding the Fulda Gap. That doctrine was shown (along with the RAF's idea of low level penetration with the Tornado) to be horribly flawed during the Gulf War, with both aircraft,

I love the A10 but the truth hurts. It's worthless on today's modern battlefield. "Unsurvivable" is actually a very accurate description and its not a fair situation to put the pilots in.

I disagree. The A10 has no chance of survival in contested airspace today. Maybe 10 or 20 years ago but not today. Secondly, in uncontested airspace (Afghanistan) drones can do its job cheaper. The A10 is dead, good riddance.

I see what you're saying, but there really are technical aspects that you're ignoring. Let's stick with a standard HD video (1920x1080). When someone shoots portrait, that video gets rendered down to roughly 1080x608. Scaled up to fit a screen and the quality of that video will ALWAYS be lower than if it had been

This just in: Untwist car seat straps by twisting them the opposite direction.

No. It literally NEVER works better. You get the same height shooting horizontally. If it worked better EVER vertically, you'd see movies and TV shows that way. This is a failure of the video maker, NOT of the people criticizing it.

Portrait video fail. When will people learn.

Anyone who makes (and posts) videos in portrait mode loses instant credibility with me.

I've had 2 Hanns-G monitors, and both have been fantastic. My 28" I've had for years without problems. Deep blacks, vivid colors, no ghosting or anything. I think I paid $280 for it years ago.

You should keep up on the latest GPU password cracking and bitcoin mining scene. Even if you aren't interested in those things, the discussions on ATI vs NVidia and respectively OpenCl vs CUDA is really interesting. Initially CUDA had better documentation and was easier to implement. Gone are those days. The ATI

I live less than 10 miles from the power plant I mentioned. Been to it many times as it is open to the public in a small museum about electricity. I also know quite a few people that do work there and it's been here for almost 40 years surviving hurricane after hurricane. Nuclear Power is safe, it's when people don't

ALL power generation has some form of pollution and waste - nuclear being substantially less than coal.

This. Bring on the nuclear power. Also, this, for pointing out the hypocracy of the alternative energy folk.

@happinessiseasy: Forgive me if I am incorrect, but I believe that freezers and refrigerators only draw 300–500 watts... when the compressor is running. However, this is only a fraction of the time, meaning the total average power draw is significantly lower. #savingmoney

Why do some of you think this is super dangerous?
