WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CANT PLAY TATSUNOKO VS CAPCOM ONLINE ANYMORE

Mario Kart for Wii sold 1 million copies last year and had a very active scene. The cancelation of its online mode was definitely not due to lack of interest.

Really Colorado? I mean, reaaaaaaaaaally?

I love the W. Virginian Eminem island

The Wii didn't have an Ethernet port. It had wi-fi. Way to do your research, captain planet.

God......DAMN IT!! I literally like, JUST started playing Mario Kart Wii online in the Dolphin emu. Yes, you can play on the actual Nintendo wi-fi in Dolphin with people actually playing on their actual wii's, it's really awesome, actually. I'd recommend checking it out.....while it lasts.....

You guys are really overreacting to this. Everybody like to say that the wii crowd is long gone, everybody is now gaming on a more modern/better system, that online of nintendo products are awful, so why would anyone care? Nobody using, nobody wants it, and now everybody is crying about it?

Backwards compatibility does not mean that the servers for the games are being kept up. The online service for Wii and DS games is shutting down, and playing those games on a Wii U is not going to buypass that.

Guess I better break out the old JUMP Ultimate Stars and mess around online before it goes down

Tetris DS. Seriously Nintendo? I just bought a used copy that didn't cost me an arm and a leg and now you're doing this to me? Really?

What's funny here is that there are actual connection protocols to the internet that no longer work because no one provides a service for them anymore.

I wouldn't call 8 years from release "too soon". Granted, it sucks that the servers are coming down at all, but you can't expect them to host them forever.

Dream World for Black / White has already been shut down, and this will just remove the GTS / Online battles from them. You'll still be able to trade locally, and do everything else that doesn't require online functionality. GTS sort of sucks anyway, because most of the trades are unreasonable / impossible.

because they have never charged for their online services?

So I won't be able to play this amazing game online anymore?
Too soon Nintendo, too fucking soon...

This is bullshit! I JUST found a copy of Soul Silver that didn't cost $50

If you own either (or both!) of Nintendo's last-gen machines, and you use any kind of online service with them, now's the time to make the most of it. Because on May 20, Nintendo is pulling the plug

Wow, they're actually killing support for the Pokemon games. That's a huge deal.
