Exactly.

Nalini Singh did an EXCELLENT series on Angels (with vampire slaves). It sounds like it would be awful and too treacly, but really, it's just fantastic.

Those are amazing for, oh, about the first three.

Bagels are so much worse because other breads rise for much longer. Bagels are denser, packing in more bread than usual.

I have amazing chocolate chip cookies I make, with oil and almond flour, but it definitely has lots of sugar.

I'm so jealous of your lack of sales tax! And yet. . . I was looking into moving to NJ (teaneck or thereabouts), and the insane property tax freaked me out.

I'm laughing. I've thought the exact same thing.

We have it here in California!

You can always tell the folks who are doing it as a trend.

I can't stand how many otherwise healthy people have gone on the gluten-free bandwagon.

There's a vegan place near my house. I keep kosher, and there's no official kosher certification on the vegan place, but because being vegan is inherently kosher, a lot of my friends who keep kosher eat there. I don't, because I DON'T TRUST PEOPLE. Either you pay for kosher oversight to make sure you're not doing

Obviously, it's not an oppressive regime if men are fighting to stay home and do it. We don't have to define something as bad or wrong just because women have, historically, been the ones doing it.

They did a study that showed that fetal amniotic fluid actually was more garlicky or something if the moms were heavy on the garlic. I forget what it all entailed, but yes, what your mom eats is kinda your first foods in utero.

I think my biggest epiphany came when my mother told me to stop nursing because she felt that my diet was so poor that I was giving my baby terrible milk. I scoffed and acted outraged and offended, and then did some google searches and. . . huh.

I don't think the OP meant that at all. It wasn't a judgemental statement, just that a stay-at-home mom (and I've been working since my baby was four weeks old) has less daycare germs, more control, and more time to make meals from scratch.

Yep. The US would be more obese, regardless of breastfeeding.

I stopped going on facebook, thanks to that ONE PERSON who was such a militant breastfeeder with her first (and at the time, only) child, that she would post very similar claims about her all important breastfeeding saving her child from all the ills of the world.

You hit on the right cause, wrong conclusion. Power corrupts. Take away power, and religion takes on a whole new level, doesn't it?

See, while I'm not disagreeing with your statement, but how do you go from this story to that conclusion? Yesterday Jezebel had an article about a guy that "helped" women go to pageants by telling them to sleep with him. He convinced her that the relationship was okay.
