Sorry. My reply to someone else was posted here.

Medicare is not just for the olds. And Medicare is the closest thing we have to universal health care for a particular age bracket, so it always amuses me when people start fighting to curb spending on it.

I think it is in Utah. Not that I'm a fan.

Everything you say is so, so true.

Every doctor that goes into geriatrics is a doctor not going into something else.

The hungry being fed and cancer research and premature babies have nothing to do with anything. The former two come from entirely different funding systems. What on earth are you talking about?

That's very true. We should encourage every elderly person to write up a medical will.

Yeah. I don't know if I'm impressed that a judge admits to being super stubborn.

It's unbelievably depressing. Many times we'll go to a restaurant and see an entire plate of food, basically uneaten, just sitting there. And I feel like we should eat it (it looks good!), but of course we're trained to believe that by virtue of the plate having sat in front of a human being, it is no longer edible.

If I wasn't on a public forum, I'd go into great detail about how doctors tried to kill a man who was in his late 60s, because they thought he was a goner and wanted him to "die with dignity". And he didn't let his family listen because he was a medical professional and knew enough that his chances, albeit slim,

I agree. Also, the author says that he played a ton of violent video games, and was NEVER affected. Then, he says that if he had had a gun in high school, he might have shot a bunch of people up because of his revenge fantasies.

No, not that moms are such slackers, but that of COURSE moms can't handle the strain of being a mom and working. Too bad Alex being a dad didn't also contribute to the show's demise!

Doctors charge so much because they can, but then again so do lawyers. ($350 an hour? $500 an hour?) But insurance companies pay a fraction of their physician bills.

Of which insurance paid $52. Insurance companies aren't stupid.

Let's hope you never get into an accident or get cancer. Because if that ever happened, you'd immediately take yourself out of the insurance pool so as not to burden anyone else in the office with your expenses, right?

Exactly.

They can buy an individualized health care plan. Which would, obese people or no, be a billion times more expensive. So there's that.

If you don't like it, get individualized health insurance. You'll find it pretty quickly that you're getting a hell of a bargain, obese people in the workplace or no.

Kill all the Gramps!

Dying is horrible. No matter what, it's awful. And I had a great grandmother die in her sleep, which is supposedly the best way to go. Most people don't die painlessly. Death is, after all, death, and the body fights against the dying of the light.
