I know some Trekkies can tell me: Can you really press on some source in a person's lower neck and cause them to fall to the ground immediately?

That's hilarious.
POWER LINES CAUSE KIDDIE CANCER.
I wonder if it was less about the google search itself, and more about the need to mention it in therapy. "I FOUND PICTURES OF YOU!" That's taking boundaries too far.
Not really. Many rationalists are part of the Judaism religion, and it's a stable and growing movement. They mostly adhere to the Rambam (Maimonides), who usually takes the most rational view of the events of the Bible. In fact, there are a few who talk about the Great flood and Noah's Ark, and various "miraculous"…
Yes, but deeply religious, science nerds, atheists, tea partiers, skeptics, they all have different elements of their core beliefs that can abide by most anything. You can be deeply religious and feminist and pro-choice, you can be deeply atheist and be misogynistic and vehemently pro-life. I never understand why…
People use anything to spout off "gut" feelings that they then attribute to their overall philosophy. Religion, atheism, veganism, you name it. That's why so often people exactly what you said, that if people knew what veganism IS, they wouldn't be so quick to think X.
No, it occurs because jobs may be offered to men and women equally for a position - not a management one, which is what this article talks about - and the offered salary and negotiated salary is vastly different.
Your assumption is that the flu vaccine protects against the particular brand of flu going around, which is actually not usually the case. It's a guess, and a crapshoot, and many vaccinated get the flu anyway.
I agree. She's playing a teenager and a 37 year old simultaneously. Ugh.
It's particularly awful because she's SUPPOSED to be 37 or so in the film. So rather than hire any number of seasoned actresses, they go with the super young hot one.
Don't homeowners have to continue paying the mortgage, even if their own has no heat, power, and is deeply damaged?
Your err on two points:
While I disagree with the OP and his later comments, this comment about not using "saving money" as a valid argument has some merit to it. We can't let the focus of women's health be "because it will save us all money!"
Considering we live in a society where we use sex to sell everything from health insurance to cars, why shouldn't women be the agents of their own sexuality?
Where did you see that? If someone has been kidnapped and coerced into a trafficking ring, she's not sent to jail.
I agree.
What's wrong with the soul guy? He's not trolling, he genuinely thinks that sex work affects a deeper part of you because it's more invasive than other jobs. He uses the word "soul" as a substitute for psyche/personality/ego/id. But just because he disagrees with the commenter, doesn't mean that he should be shut…
I think that the choice to go into sex work is fucked up, as you put it. It reinforces the idea that women are for sale, that sex is for sale, and that any woman is inherently a man's possession in a consumer society, waiting to be bought.
I think that's utter bullshit. I know it's the popular belief, that you can't break what isn't already broken, but I think people also tell themselves a lot of lies to make themselves feel better.
