I pretty much WAS Squall when I was a teen, so I related pretty well.

And? It’s just a game. Let them have their fun. I used to do fun stuff that “wasn’t part of the game” all the time back in the old days, and basically it just came down to “were your friends ok with it?”. That’s all that matters.

I never considered Doom 3 particularly frightening, because it’s a game where a skeleton wears two rocket launchers on it’s shoulders. That’s patently ridiculous. It’s like being genuinely scared of the movie Leprechaun.
