Have you seen GTA IV's DLC? They were brand new stories. Rockstar tends to give you quite a bit for your buck.

The controls were pretty tight, yu probably just weren't used to having to get better at driving in a GTA game. But the next will be on par with racing game driving mechanics, or so they say in the game informer.
