It’s awesome to see this footage after all these years. Just to clarify, though, Mortal Kombat isn’t really an example of rotoscoping, it’s more an example of digitisation, where actors are filmed and the footage is converted to sprites.

Motoko from the film is an outlier in that regard. The Stand Alone Complex-version, the best one in my opinion, is an amalgamation of the film Major and the original manga character.

A+ translation of character designs, and all the shots get the mood and expressions right, but it’s not very ‘anime’. It very much looks like a modern anime-influenced Western show - maybe in the vein of Castlevania, but that even that one is more anime than this is.

It’s unclear whether it was the clubs aware of their own deals or Konami themselves who stepped in and withdrew both teams/players.

The creator has been struggling with health issues that directly affect his ability to sit and work on the series for years, hence the delays. While as a fan it is incredibly frustrating not to have new chapters, I completely sympathize with what he’s going through
