I went deep and found an article that published the emails. The Hoffman/Macy daughter was legitimately granted double time by the College Board. It’s not super unusual for kids with certain learning disabilities*. That kid probably had no idea her mom cheated on her behalf. The others...eh, not so much.

My understanding based on the charging documents is that Huffman and Macy backed out with the second daughter because they were afraid her SAT tutor would notice something was up with her higher score and seemed afraid of getting caught this time.

I am not surprised that rich white people exerted their influence in illegal ways. I am, however, extremely sad and disappointed that it’s Felicity Huffman.

These people were basically arrested for not being rich enough. They cheaped out on purchasing admission by going through a middleman. The ones who get away with spend millions on new buildings or other assets and deal directly with the universities.

This is a big source of pain for students of color at Ivy schools. The assumption that you’re a charity case who got a “leg up”, and it can really fuck with students’ heads.

Yeah, if it’s not actually chilled below room temperature I’m wondering how much it can do. That said if it can effectively remove the heat your body is putting out then keeping the bed closer to room temperature might just be perfect.  In an empty bed you would expect it to read pretty close to ambient.
