If tipping was expected and common practice there would be a line for it on the credit card receipt at least. There’s not and many times you don’t even get a receipt to sign. Your point is invalid. No one is stopping YOU from passing a few dollars towards the attendant if you happen to drive through the state but

1. At a lot of gas stations the attendants are already outside, or at least in a small booth. Like...a toll attendant. Just like toll attendants, they are exposed to the elements, rude people, and smelly fumes. So, yeah, you could compare the two but no one wants to admit that they don’t tip toll attendants even if

Yeah, that’s the thing. You don’t have an option. And it’s not like food service—the attendants aren’t paid below minimum wage and expected to make up the rest in tips. And in high crime areas you might have to pay before you pump (inside) so the run off risk is low or nonexistent.

Nope. As I said above, no one tips the attendant in NJ. No one. It’s just not the practice. It’s not a high paying job, but they aren’t paid under minimum wage. Do you tip the toll attendant? I mean, they are out in the cold too.

I will admit that the one time I kinda hate it is when I go someplace and you have to pay inside or at the window.

My thing is this...if we had to do it....I’d do it. However, I will not actually vote for it to happen. I like sitting in my car.

It’s not.

Tip the gas attendant? No one does that. If the gas is $19, and I give the person a $20, I want my $1. I have never seen anyone tip an attendant.

The inside attendant? I just went inside, told them I was from NJ, and that I had no idea WTF I was doing.

Me too. It was way too cold out there. Especially when you have to get out the car to pump your own gas.

I don’t know. I haven’t attempted to pump in about 15 years—Never needed to. I’m sure I could figure it out if I had to, but I am not eager to do it on the regular.

Have you looked into alternatives to the Turnpike? 295? Route 1?

I sincerely hope this doesn’t happen in NJ. I legit have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to pumping gas. I lived in Minnesota for a while, but I used a shared vehicle, and if I had to fill up, I told the attendant where I was from and they did it for me.

I’m ok with not proactively reading texts/messages from an approved list of contacts. If they were talking on the phone or face to face, I wouldn’t know what was being said anyway.

I also grab other people’s receipts if they are laying around on the ground. If they have good stuff, I scan at the end of the week. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m cheap but I ALWAYS get the store baked roast beef and turkey, even if it’s over $10/lb. Just tastes better and is less salty than pre packaged stuff. Usually however, it goes on sale mid week for a few days.

“UNIT PRICE UNIT PRICE!” Everytime we go to the store I have to remind my SO to compare the unit prices.

I do it RIGHT AWAY because if I wait a day I start to wonder if it’s worth it to unpack—regardless of how long the trip is ;-)

Many of the theatres here are older than 10-15 years. In a few they just slapped some numbers on the seats and called it ‘reserved’. Works ok for what it is.

Also, a lot a pensions used to continue to pay the widow. Now, if you can even find a pension, that rarely happens.
