There are plenty of middle men out there in the world. It goes without saying middle men are people too, and asking politely isn’t an abhorrent request, no matter how much you dislike the middle man’s business model.

Everyone is fighting their own personal war you know nothing about. No need to judge, just maybe offering that simple requests can often go further than angry demands. We’re all people, after all.
Not saying it’s right, but a lot of this is done to keep production costs down. Look at an F-150. There’s a ton of “Package discounts” available, which basically means “if you get a bunch of common options together, we’ll give you some of them for free, that way we don’t have to stop the line to install one accessory…
Our stripe guy is a dude in his late 60’s, early 70’s, named Jerry, who drives around in an old Chevy Astro all day. He’s actually really awesome.
Depends on the fees. Tire Tax, transfer fees, registration fees, are charged by the state and have to be charged. I guess technically you could negotiate them out of the deal by reducing asking price, but they are legally required to charge them. Doc fees are capped in my state, however. I’ve seen some down south…
Depends on if they were on the sticker or not. If they came from the factory, there’s really nothing the dealer can do.
Totally reasonable, but shameless confession time.
I think what he meant to say was the difference between ad price and invoice is nada, which really makes sense, and is fairly accurate. If you aren’t at invoice or below on most new cars right now, you aren’t being competitive.
Pretty well put. It’s a viscous cycle, and not one “side” is to blame. As a franchise dealer, I really wish the same.

Yeah, it was mostly an issue with a faulty seal making the dual clutches slip due to leaks near the clutches themselves. They have pretty much figured it out by now, but older ones can be fixed under warranty with enough complaining.
Even as someone in sales (I do dealer marketing now, but did a couple years in sales), it’s a really poor feeling, knowing you try to stand behind your product. We had the same thing happen with pre-2014 Fix Fiesta Transmissions slipping, with 1.6L Escape recalls, knowing the 1.5L was on the way, etc. This is…
Thank you for typing what I was thinking.
Is it just me, or does this thing look like a Speed 3 with a Nissan badge?
Either way, with the engine from the SRT-4, they would all be long gone by 2015.
It kinda lended some elements to the last generation Thunderbird, though.
This is new to me. Especially the front, a lot of this made it into the Veyron.
I know it’s not quite as fun, but I’ve had a Forte Koup SX, with a 2.4L NA 4-cyl and a 6MT for a few years. In that sweet blue from the Optima SX ;). It’s a pretty fun car.
I said it on another RR thread yesterday, I’ve got a co-worker who is full on delusional about his 2006 RR. He’s out 1-2 days a month with problems, constantly fearing another breakdown, yet applauding the reliability of his cheap, nearing-200k Range. He was out on Monday for Trans issues, was out last month two days…
I’ve got a coworker who is out 1-2 days a month because his suspension failed, his transmission is acting up, or some other crazy part broke. It’s a 2006 he purchased with 160,000 on it, and it now has 168,000 on it.
