I thought we all got past this ages ago. Although not a sports car, for the people they are marketed towards, they are spacious, comfortable, not terribly expensive, and do everything well when you have 3 kids, a dog, and don't like driving 2-3 cars whenever you want to go to dinner.
This was more to push "Airbags as Standard" than anything else, though, and although airbags can make wheels uglier, especially at that time, I think we can all agree airbags are a good thing.
