They were letting everything go all game, it was taking a lot for them to blow a whistle. There were much worse penalties committed that they let go over the course of the game. They set the precedent that they were eating their whistles early on in the game and they didn’t deviate from it.

The refs were letting them play all game, very minimal penalties. For instance, no holding the stick penalty on this play...the trip was bad, but they let almost everything go. Not the best angle, but Jokinen was grabbing Hamonic’s stick with both hands and Hamonic was literally dragging him across the ice.

And the last time they did it...23 years ago...they knocked out a Jagr team then too.
