I still haven’t purchased it because I am not sure how long i would enjoy making levels and when I play Mario I like playing the well thought out levels like we have grown up with. This is exactly my fear of the types of levels we are going to see going forward and they would stop being fun to me after about 10

*sigh*

I see that side. But on the ‘otherhand’ (*wink*) games aren’t movies. Can you name a game that sold well purely because of the performance of the voice actor or mo-cap unit?

I directed voiceover and mocap, and designed/wrote 3 million-selling games. And I can say from experience that voiceover work is the easiest, cushiest gig in all of video games. It requires little prep, the conditions are luxurious, and the pay is great.

Better conditions, sure. I’m all for it. Especially for mo-cap actors. But performance bonuses? Sorry, but fuck that.

I’m surprised with the opposition to the Framerate police. More information is always a good thing and what they do allows people to whom it matters (which is of course not everyone. Some people are still perfectly happy with their 15” CRT TVs too) to easily see what kind of performance they can expect from the games

Take it from a dev: 60 fps is NOT a gold standard, but an ideal to aspire to.

The need to support lower-end machines and mid-level machines are often what smothers the dream. I’m looking at all you fucking Bobs who somehow managing to run a top flight strategy game on fucking intel integrated graphics (and then crying

I agree with you about the shoddy journalism part. I just discovered the podcast Undisclosed put on by Rabia. Its a group of 3 lawyers, admittedly biased for sure, going over all the evidence and finding major discrepancies, one of which was just used as the basis of appeal (omg I am so NOT a lawyer). If they are

No, we HOPED it was about the trial and the system. And then in the end it seemed that Sarah Koenig really did want to just think that it was about whether her boyfriend Adnan did it or not.

France also wants to censor the planet. Never mind there are other search engines. I find it as hard to take them seriously as Italy jailing seismologists for failing to predict an earthquake.

...but can he write a comic?

I’ve always felt that Wakanda was really heavy handed. Well, at least it’s not Deathlok

I can’t watch the video but the part about attractiveness seems a bit like a dad joke gone wrong. Like “of course she’d have to be pretty! After all, the only reason I’ve done so well is because of how hot I am!” *dad chuckle*

Any proof of this or are you just saying things on Jezabel?

Because few women, much less a smaller demographic of them, go through tech courses. Believe it or not, gender studies majors tend to go into blogging rather than real tech.

“The culprit is our educational system, not these companies.” <- agreed.

25% of tech is Asian. Asians, including South Asians, are over represented in tech, so boiling it down to simple racism is an oversimplification. Do you think Google and Twitter are rejecting hundreds of black candidates who pass their very, very difficult tests? If so, they need to change. However, if they aren’t,

Hey you’re not grey anymore. Totally agree with you. I was going through a really bad depression 2 months ago and reached out on sns and it wasn’t grey. Worse, I poured my heart out and it disappeared from the thread all together.

No one’s going to see this since I’m in the grays, but it sucks that so many SNS posts are grey. It’s not very “social,” and there are so many “gray people” posting who need help and advice. :(
