I think a lot of people associate authentic with foreign. So the polish resuraunts in little poland, where 30% of residents are immigrants and 15% don’t speak English, are more authentic than the ones in Bedford, even if they’re run by minorities.

A quick google search says Greenpoint has a median household income of $60,500, while Bedford–Stuyvesant has a median income of only $37,500. That’s a much bigger difference than the racial makeup, and probably accounts for the differing opinions of the neighborhoods.

I don’t know. I’ve been finding it kind of hard to relate to the teenage heroes as I’ve grown older, especially when their books are so obviously targeted towards a younger audience.

I disagree with you, but I understand your point. Sam/Miles/Kamala are really different from most heroes. A lot of their stories focus around their lives as teenagers, and I’d prefer they were kept in their own teenager-centric books for people who like that kind of thing, rather than mixed in with the adult heroes…

But that’s about it, so most of what I know about the Avengers and Iron Man and Cap are either gleaned from the Internet or the movies.
