By the way you described it, it seems as though you’re not aware The Wolf in Chiefs Clothing is based on actual events: https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdmo/pr/kc-chiefs-superfan-indicted-bank-theft-money-laundering

The only thing I gathered from this list is that The Color Purple remake must be a huge fucking stinker given that it couldn’t even secure a Best Comedy/Musical nomination over the fucking Ben Affleck Nike biopic.
That’s fair considering that, much like the upcoming Mean Girls remake/reboot/whatever the fuck, they seem to be hellbent on hiding the fact that it’s a musical for whatever reason.
I will never stop ranting to anyone who will listen (which is to say, almost nobody) about how badly ViacomCBS fucked up their streaming platforms. They were WAY ahead of the game in comparison with the other competing conglomerates, considering they had full streaming episodes of shows like South Park and Chappelle’s…
That’s not really true anymore. Many of them are widely available for free online, and all the short subject nominees are compiled shown in movie theaters leading up to the awards.
Would’ve liked to have seen some love for Road to Perdition, which I think is a wildly underrated movie that most people have simply forgotten about. It got nominated for 6 Oscars!
I tend to agree with you. Goodfellas is, if nothing else, a more entertaining and stylish film that feels more realistic to what life in the mob is actually like than the pulpy, romantic Godfather films—and I’m not using either of those descriptors as a pejorative.
His lawyer should be charged with perjury for saying he had a “small amount of psilocybin” in his system. The effects from a normal dose of psilocybin are typically gone in 6-8 hours; I can’t even imagine how much he took to trip for five fucking days.
I’m loving the recurring musical duos on Weekend Update; the grime parody with JAJ and Walker from last season had me in stitches. This generation of SNL seems allergic to recurring characters/sketches (which is probably a good thing) but I hope they continue throwing in those bits.
None of these people ever seem to remember that SNL has always been hit-or-miss by its very nature and seem to long for a past that doesn’t actually exist. Even in the two Golden Eras, not every episode and certainly not every sketch was an instant comedy classic. As always with the “it’s not like the good old days”…
Prosecutors announced on Oct 17th (as in, less than a month ago) that they’re having a grand jury determine if criminal charges should be re-filed. Does no one remember this being reported on?
Lol that last sentence isn’t fooling anyone; this question is as bad faith as it comes. No question that what Wahlberg did was infinitely more heinous, but it also happened over 30 years ago and has fully gone through the legal process. Baldwin’s incident happened slightly over 2 years ago and the case is very much…
I think he meant bullying in the sense of persistent harassment rather than the exploitation of a power dynamic.
Weightless CGI battles are, like, the MCU’s whole thing, aren’t they? I’m not an MCU fan at all, but I did see Avengers, and one of the only things I remember about it was the Hulk leaping over skyscrapers like an Olympic hurdler and other massive, muscle-bound heroes getting tossed around like ragdolls. (that and the…
I’m not sure if there’s ever been a film that was more misunderstood by critics than The Descendants. So many reviews of that movie cited the irony of a wealthy white family fighting tooth and nail to save their land that shouldn’t have belonged to them in the first place as a negative, when that was the entire point…
I will never, ever understand this mindset. Basically all of my favorite novels, movies, and shows are packed with deeply flawed characters. I don’t get why some people feel they have to like characters to find them compelling, especially in comedies. Do you think Payne wanted you to empathize with the guys in…
I have never felt older than I did when the “this isn’t your mother’s Mean Girls!” tagline popped up. To be fair, it’s not exactly an accurate tagline; it’s pretty much only teen parents who were both in the intended target audience in 2004 and also have children in the intended target audience in 2024.
When I ran across this trailer on Instagram earlier today, I was so confused as to whether it was a remake or sequel. Knowing it’s based on the musical makes a lot more sense. What threw me off was Fey and Meadows reprising their roles while Coach Carr was recast (probably because Dwayne Hill is still a total nobody).…
I love this trailer purely based on the fact that it actually uses a popular song as it was originally recorded and not some Zimmer-fied dramatic orchestral “reimagining” like literally every other big studio trailer in the past few years.
Missed, or correctly overlooked, because that cover is fucking godawful?
