The absolute bravery of this statement.... you win the internet today, good sir, gentleman and scholar, et al

LOTR Licensees: “New LOTR game good, money we get, boats and leather coats we will buy”

Why? WBD still owns TCM outright. For what it’s worth, I went on Max last night to watch the most recent episode of Barry, and my queue that’s mostly full of TCM and Criterion movies was still completely intact. It just looks like a slightly redesigned HBO Max with a bunch of Discovery network garbage added.

HBO Max actually allows you to view their entire catalog at once, and even allows for ALPHABETICAL SORTING (what a concept!), which automatically puts it head and shoulders above any other platform. Others like NF and Prime intentionally obscure their catalogs so as to prevent people from seeing the “bottom of the

Nah, the networks are all collectively represented under AMPTP. If a studio wanted to make an individual deal with the WGA, it would violate their labor agreement, and they would probably be kicked out of AMPTP. Studios are, from what I understand, completely free to hire non-WGA scabs, which I assume is who will be

I have some very Mixed Feelings about the Peak TV/Prestige Drama era, but one thing I absolutely do not miss is the 20+ episode season. There was always so much padding with clip shows and other time-wasting nonsense.

The strike applies only to WGA members and there are plenty of non-WGA scabs willing to take on this kind of stuff. It’s done on scripted shows too; for example, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who are not and were never WGA members, hired a staff of scabs to keep South Park going during the last strike.

Lol I always find it funny when people bring up Requiem as one of these types of movies, as I was obsessed with it in high school and watched it no fewer than 10 times. I’ve even watched it with commentary multiple times! As someone who was just starting to get seriously into film at that time, the imagery and editing

Literally not a single reason for any human being to not support the WGA unless they are actual film/TV producers

And as we saw in 2007-08, there’s no shortage of non-WGA scabs and other picket-line-crossers* willing to debase themselves to continue making studios money

Hey, don’t knock the role of weird fetishes (although, is a foot fetish even weird, all things considered?) in the creative process. We wouldn’t have Wonder Woman if Charles Moulton hadn’t had an uncontrollable BDSM fetish. Also whatever name you would give to an obsession with forcing/coercing people to tell the

Yeah, I was gonna say, did he forget Jackie Brown like everyone else?

This is a lot of words for “I don’t understand visual storytelling” and “I am terrified to disagree with critical consensus.”

Nintendo pulled it ages ago because a Netflix employee linked info about it: https://www.engadget.com/zelda-netflix-live-action-show-leak-rumor-184755257.html

The internet had a collective apoplexy when they revealed Pratt wasn’t doing a borderline-offensive Italian stereotype voice for Mario; what makes you think these man/womenchildren could handle a talking Link?

How many movies have you seen in which the (human) main protagonist doesn’t talk at all? That sounds like a terrible idea.

>If you’d told 1998 Me what Warners’ 100th anniversary was going to be like, I might’ve cried.

I totally get your point, and agree on principle, but if you’re expecting streaming platforms to act as extensive, definitive film archives, that’s just not realistic at all. They were never intended to be that, and will never be that. Streaming platforms are marketing and DRM tools. That’s all.

Personally, I’m offended that you called M&Ms mediocre. The plain ones? Sure. But the peanut and peanut butter M&Ms are both S-tier candies IMO.

What about those of us who hate big, actiony, superhero movies AND limp biopics about completely random products/companies that are really just advertisements in disguise?
