The full trailer is 2:27. You realize they’d have to buy 5 30-second slots for that, right? If it’s $5mil for one 30 second block (I think I read it’s more like $7mil, but whatever), it would cost $25mil to air the entire trailer. It’s not just a flat rate for however much time you want lol.

New Magic Mike movie with Soderbergh directing again? :)

I’m really not interested in the recut as most of the original’s magic came from its reverse-chronological order, but, man, I’d love to check it out with a proper theatrical sound system to see if the brown noise actually makes me nauseated. I watched it originally on my little, cheap dorm room TV and didn’t get that

From what I’ve gathered, Disc+ is way more profitable for WBD than HBOMax

What? You don’t think there are royalties for streaming? How the fuck do you think people get paid?! Lol

I tried bringing non-member friends to Costco once, and the employees went fucking HAM on us. Threatening to cancel our membership and all kinds of shit like that. I haven’t dared to try it again.

I really miss watching the previous night’s Daily Show/Nightly Show/@Midnight stack every evening on Hulu through the mid-2010s. Now 2 of those 3 shows no longer exist, and Hulu doesn’t have rights to any ViacomCBS content at all anymore. Would love to see a return of @Midnight but I’ve gotta say I’m skeptical about

I watched almost every episode and it was a VERY hit-or-miss show. It really depended on the guests. They definitely vary wildly between “crying laughing for the whole ~22 minutes” to “uncontrollably cringing and getting physical pain from the unfunniness.”

I was just thinking about how many awesome comedians I was introduced to through @Midnight. Ron Funches, Flula Borg, Jen Kirkman, Rory Scovel, Rhys Darby, Esther Povitsky... and so many others I’m not thinking of right now.

I don’t believe this for a second. Singer has been well known as a sex pest in the industry for basically his whole career. There was a widely publicized lawsuit regarding him filming nude scenes with minors during Apt Pupil, for fuck’s sake. EVERYONE knew he was a sex pest by the time X2 came around, it was just in

I’ll have to re-watch this because I don’t remember the A Milli segment at all. I was only half paying attention, but that’s the sort of track that would pique my interest immediately.

Now playing

Anyone want to talk about this week’s sponsored sketch that actually ended up being TWO sponsored sketches in one? It was the SNL sketch version of this bizarre Jumper TV spot that becomes an HP ad in the middle from years ago:

Oh man, I totally forgot about that segment, but it was hilarious and spot-on. I’m worried not enough people got it to see it return again, but I really hope it does. I mean, I guess grime is a lot better known than it used to be with the popularity of Skepta and such. Hell, there’s even a Peloton commercial right now

Surely it says more about the marketing/consumer appetite for those films, right? It’s not SNL’s fault no one’s heard of them.

I’m really confused by all of the negative reactions to this sketch. I thought it was the best live sketch of the night by a significant margin. Maybe it’s because I’m a long time, rather vocal “there’s way too much TV now” person but I thought it was excellent—if not fully examined—commentary on the absolute content

The whole escalation of the sketch was hilarious, but really I’m still laughing at “five ethnically troubling sauces”

She is great in it. And y’all need to stop worshipping review aggregators and watch more movies with mixed/bad reviews. There are still a shocking number of critics who hate anything bold or outside-the-box, and review scores often reflect that. Blonde is one of those movies that transcended the dichotomy of “good” or

The biggest question I still have is, why are all the major categories still limited to 5 nods when we literally have this discussion every year? It wasn’t diversity that ultimately opened the Best Picture category to more than 5 (it was nerds whining about The Dark Knight IIRC), but it was certainly part of the

The Razzies are completely worthless. All they do is shit all over originality and boldness and hate any film that takes risks or operates outside mainstream cinematic tropes. You know what else received multiple Razzie nominations? The fuckin’ Shining.

I think you’re right. Going from wrestling to screen acting feels like trying to transition between Vaudeville and New Hollywood. An entirely different skill set is required.
