I hopped on Mercari and am seeing some sold recently for $50-75. So a lot for a Blu-Ray these days, but not a huge fortune or anything. The value on physical movies has hit rock bottom recently. Basically nothing but the rarest of the rare (and sought-after) in perfect, unopened condition is worth much these days.

What’s Lenny Kravitz up to these days? Probably not much, considering the smallest section of his career on Wikipedia is “2012-present.”

Why is everything a fucking cinematic universe now? We don’t just have to worry about studios shitting out unnecessary prequels and spinoffs because now apparently the filmmakers will do it themselves. When indie horror isn’t even safe from corporate synergy, where does that leave us? I frankly don’t care if it’s good

The name “Claire Stoermer” wasn’t enough of an indication she was white?

I don’t think it’s that so much as just resetting your console. He’d pop up any time you turned off or reset the console without saving. I actually didn’t know he showed up if you messed with the internal clock.

I have some hazy, fever-dream-like memories of that JTT movie. I think I may have even watched it when I was home sick as a kid. The article fails to mention it co-stars both Rob Schneider and Udo Kier, which only adds to the insanity.

Did all the studios just collectively agree to avoid the holiday weekend because of the cinema day thing? It feels like they were all too terrified to get their Saturday takes reduced by like 50-75% to take a chance on any big releases.

When was the last time you watched a Viacom network live? They are 100% reruns of the same 2 or 3 shows (or in the case of Paramount Network, just reruns of Bar Rescue between new episodes of Yellowstone). Nothing of value was lost, I can promise you lol

Having taught high school English recently, I can assure you Friday is as popular as ever. Whenever I would teach theme statements, I’d have us practice writing one for a movie “everyone in the class has seen,” as I say to them, and almost every time, the first movie someone suggested was Friday. This was a school

Above all else, I think this reveals how little shame some of these people have. Like, if I were Robbin and had just showed millions of people I was the world’s biggest fuckboi, I’d be going into a witness protection program on a remote tropical island, not trying to capitalize on my “fame.”

If we’re doing that, Remy and Joshua (15-y/o Adam) both deserve nominations too.

I’m very tempted to pay Angela to record a Happy Hanukah greeting, just to see how unhinged it is.

This might not just be your TV. I can’t speak for the console versions, but both 21 and 22 on PC had awful issues with framerate and lag and such. I’ve had the exact issue you describe pop up on rare occasions, seemingly fixed by a restart. I also have run into an awful issue on 22 in which any sort of contact between

I know Avatar isn’t “anime,” but rather anime-adjacent, but can we just stop trying to make live-action anime adaptations, especially in the West? DB: Evolution, Death Note, and Cowboy Bebop were all terrible, and the Akira adaptation that’s been in the works since I very first saw the movie over 20 years ago will be

I had to look up all of those names to make sure this wasn’t some meta joke from the show, and apparently, they’re all real people that I guess I’m supposed to know?

Never cared much for Moulin Rouge but R+J is legit one of the best Shakespeare adaptations ever made. The casting is so spot-on; not just Leguizamo as Tybalt, but Paul Sorvino (RIP) as Lord Capulet, Pete Postlethwaite (also RIP) as Friar Lawrence, Harold Perrineau as Mercutio, and Miriam Margolyes as Nurse are all

When The A.V. Club started putting together our June TV preview package, the only show we couldn’t find a trailer for, let alone a still of, was The Bear.

“Underrated” is underselling it, I think. There are a lot of Black comedies from that time period that were completely misunderstood by white audiences and critics and unfairly maligned as a result. Pootie Tang*, White Chicks, and Soul Plane are some others I’d lump in that category (UB is better than all of them

Man, are you trying to gatekeep being mad at corporations? Lmao “I was hating on corporate mergers LONG before you addlepated simpletons”

Live in NYC or LA, duh.
