That’s funny, and you’re 100% right. I can’t believe I missed it

The show spent a lot of time on it, so I wish you dug into the Paper Boi plot line. Blueblood is clearly an MF DOOM inspired character (rapped by Earl Sweatshirt, a real life MF DOOM contemporary, by all accounts). There was something genuine and touching there about the loss of an inspirational figure in your life…
Early on, Glover said he wanted to do a Twin Peaks for black people in “Atlanta”. I think this season was _exactly_ that. Something inescapable in David Lynch productions is a persistent feeling of dread and horror, even during relatively benign moments.
You should be. This is a hugely important plot point. Wtf
Right? Is the premise not essentially fleshing out the conversations we all have in our heads with people to an absurd degree? I adore this show. Adore it.
I’m surprised, in the light of Wright’s horrible fumble on schizophrenia vs accuser syndrome the reviewer chose to highlight the relatively tame casting of a black actor whose character was merely caught up in the main character’s paranoid visions.
The troubling aspect here isn’t their professionalism. I think The Captain and his XO have shown time and again that they are professional and dedicated. The troubling aspect is that their entire will was shattered by Darulio and his “pheromones”.
Ducktales reboot is _banger_ my guy. Good call.
It doesn’t ignore it, necessarily, just doesn’t dwell on it much. It alludes to their getting starting off small before getting their own show.
I didn’t even know she voiced her in the first place, but now that I remember her voice from the series, it feels like absolute duh. She’s so incredibly talented.
This movie was missing the wonderful noir elements that made Roger Rabbit so good. Too few action set pieces, not enough memorable or unique characters (note: I don’t think we needed “Ugly Sonic” to make that many appearances, the first time was funny, should’ve really just been a throwaway sight gag). And I actually…
I’m with Hannibal #mysteriowasright
Well… Tony kind of was too. He just had a much better origin movie.
Funny you should say that. It felt, most of the time, like this movie was conceived after one of the studio execs walked by one of their children playing the Spider-Man (PS4) title in the den. Such a similar sense of an overpacked experience.
Exactly. I think the reviewer nailed the comparison to Network. It was a very effective episode to nail home a concept.
Dave is decent. It has some pretty high highs though. My problem with it is it feels like it wants to be Atlanta but it doesn’t have the creative forte behind it.
Really important fact you either glazed over or missed entirely: E from the bar was the same guy as the guy in the boat at the start of the season. It might recolor that first scene as well.
3rd, 19 years later… bitches? We probably shouldn’t use that word anymore…
Agreed. It’s slowing a bit here and I wish it’d make more progress on reveals but I’m in no way upset about the current progression. And Turturro’s character definitely does him more justice than The Jesus (though maybe less than his turn as a flunkie defense attorney in Ths Night Of).
If you’re new to reading into movies, it has layers. And those layers tend to wow people who had never previously bothered to delve into storytelling. I think for that reason it becomes a cornerstone for a lot of people on their intellectual movie watching journey and just sticks there since it was so pivotal.
