There are certain communities around gaming that have some sort of self-hating disposition where they feel obligated to accept any and all criticism of the greater community around them. The environmental dissonance is a Colorado thing. South Park is a mountain town, so it could very well be covered by snow while other, lower areas remain uncovered.

For what it’s worth, 7 and 8 were both criticized for hewing too close to the standard formula, too.  Also, 8 did some truly terrible things and deserved all of the backlash it received.

I’ve seen different permutations of this exact criticism in a few places (including Kotaku, which really makes the existence of this particular review seem redundant), and I don’t think this is a criticism that is made in good faith.

I think that’s fair, but I find that that kind of cryptic content warms me up with a good, nostalgic feeling.  It reminds me of thumbing through strategy guides and seeing things I had no idea existed, but now had the tools to go seek out myself.

The Emmy’s are becoming The Grammy’s. These nominations seem like nods to the most popular television, not the best (excluding The Americans, which has never gotten its due).

I hate these things, but “the world is on fire” has got to be one of the worst arguments against a goofy technological gimmick I have ever seen.

I will add to the chorus of disagreement. I understand and agree that in some cases (including Harvey Weinstein, especially), the word can possibly downplay the legitimacy of the reported incidents involving him and several women in Hollywood. The Wii U years were rough. It felt like you could go an entire year without a major release (what even happened last year?). Of all the dark times in Nintendo’s history, that time felt the darkest to me. It’s just great to see Nintendo back on its feet and doing cool stuff again.

We, as a people, need to let go of the Gamecube controller. It is my favorite controller for my favorite console, but its time has come. Super Smash Bros. and others will play perfectly well with a Pro Controller!
