I have an Infiniti that has a horizontal oil filter. I have found some aluminum foil below it roughly shaped into a sluice works great on keeping oil off everything.

M90 engine was 215 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque. On a wet/damp road it would spin out and not get any traction....
One thing to check is the read diff/axle saddle mount. They had issues with cracks (least all the 80-82's I have seen had)
I had an 82 633csi. Was a great car. There were some issues, like the replacement of the distributor cap is a total pain in the ass since it has about 1/4" of space form the radiator/shroud. The flex coupling linking the two driveshaft halves was a pain to replace but didn’t have to do it that often.
