I *almost* want to agree with you. Because you’re right, in theory.
But with a Bluray, on my mid-range 5.1 receiver w/some really nice speakers, and a pretty great 55" with ambient backlighting, and some dimmable LED strip lighting around the room... it’s pretty darn close. Close enough that I might ignore the times…

I love movies. I love them so, so much. And for the longest time, a majority of my life I suppose, I loved theaters because of it.
But in the last decade, when the home experience became very close to “as good as”, if not better (if one is willing to put in the time and effort), I find the drawbacks to public viewing…
