I don’t agree with a lot of your Premier League writing, but we are definitely in sync on the farcical nature of the pro structure here in the U.S. USSF can't really designate NASL as second tier and still argue against pro/rel (although unfortunately they can and apparently will.)

Have you considered the possibility that the English press loves linking United to every player in Europe and they have actually pursued very few of these? This is not a new phenomenon.
