I thought this was a pretty solid effort.

Lateral energy without a hard stop at the end. It’s amazing how far you can slide before you get through the leather, almost completely unscathed.

That’s an important point, too.

It helps that most of the local junk yards are littered with 90s vehicles and all of the replacement parts are very cheap.... I’ve replaced a starter, radiator, rear axle, window regulator, side glass, front hub, wheel (broke it off playing in snow) on my xj and never paid more then $50 for anything
