Fonda was good, but Raymond Massey was spectacular in "Abe Lincoln in Illinois." I prefer this film because it shows Abe, warts and all (literally) as he ascends to the presidency. His dark moods, stubborness and plain eccentricity balanced out his brilliance. The Lincoln-Douglass debates alone make this one worth
