My jarred sauce strategy: Check the ingredients, avoid anything that contains sugar (or corn syrup, or other artificial sweeteners) or anything from concentrate.

I found myself ordered by a flight attendant to swap seats on a transatlantic flight. Something to do with a woman traveling with an infant in a carseat, and the carseat wouldn’t fit in the seat that the woman had booked for the kid. I forget the details.

I assume they’re referring to the refrigerant, which is a fluid (and, during certain points in the loop, a liquid!).

Not in this case, actually, though I think I get where your confusion is coming from.

Audi?

Honest question here. I’ve got no beef with trans people, but I’m not on top of the pronoun-related etiquette.

Oh, that’s super shitty that they changed it after he moved in. Wonder if it was updated specifically in response to his van showing up?

I kinda get where the HOA is coming from— I’m not into the Patina thing, and I don’t think having that truck parked in the driveway next door would do any favors to my property value.

A shitty situation for your friend. I’m living across the street from a plumber with a similar van (transit, in this case) in an upper-middle class neighborhood with no HOA. Nobody minds the van.

I’m gonna chime in with the folks who’ve already stated that the Northeast Corridor is a pleasant and practical way to travel between cities along the East Coast between DC and Boston. When you factor in all the pain in the ass time spent in the airport, going through security, boarding, taxiing, etc, the train ends

Sonic seems like an okay sub-compact. Maybe even above average? And this one looks like it’s been well taken care of. But 7300 is still about 3k above what this ought to be going for.

I wonder if the police know that there’s a number you can dial to request that they show up at literally any location you specify?

Also worth mentioning that 0-60 times are usually achieved with neutral drops and/or launch control.  People like to think of 0-60 times as being representative of accelerating onto a highway, but the 5-60 time (rolling start) is much more representative of how people actually drive.

‘12 Impreza 5 speed here. I think some people are mixing up traction control vs stability control.

I’m expecting to buy a new car within the next year. Top contenders are GTI and Mazda 3.  Now I see that I need to spend GTI money if I want a 3 with a manual transmission.  What advantages do you see of a 3 over a GTI?

Small planes absolutely do have much higher rates of crashes than commercial jets. On the whole, deaths-per-mile-traveled for small single-engine planes average out to be about 3x that of cars, or about the same as motorcycles. As with other modes of transportation, there’s a great deal of variation in crash rates

My wife works in a profession where she drives an employer-provided pickup. She had a (totally excessive for her needs) 2011 2500HD at her last place, and was disappointed that the brand-new 1500 at the new place lacked the cool lights on top of the cab.

If I were shopping for a new car right now, and my wife wouldn’t let me get one with a manual, I’d be all over this. That’s a midsized near-luxury wagon for barely $5k more than I paid in 2012 for a base-model Impreza without a single option.

I drive a hatchback with little side windows in the hatch.  The driver’s side one isn’t actually visible at all from the driver’s seat, since the window is set so far back in the interior paneling.  The passenger one, however, is nice to have, and I use it often.
