I’m with you here. If the Crosstrek (lifted Impreza wagon) is a crossover, why isn’t the Outback (lifted Legacy wagon) a crossover?

Re. Roaches in the coffee:

I’ve seen this one around town a few times:

Finally, a discussion I can win! $800 fine for 74 in a 65 in upstate NY.

Eh? My 2012 Impreza doesn’t have any ring or lockout or anything for reverse. Just to the right and down, right below 5th gear.

I almost got a GTI back in 2012 when I bought my Impreza, and if I needed to replace the Impreza today, I’d probably go for a GTI.

I’ve found my 2012 Impreza hatch to be mostly comfortable enough on long drives, except for the noise level. Soooo much road noise, and wind noise, and engine noise, and rattly plastic noise.

-According to most research I’ve seen, laser jammers don’t work reliably at all.

My meniscectomy was at age 19, currently 27. Very occasional, mild discomfort, when I walk or hike 15+ miles in a day. Sometimes I can do that old people trick where discomfort in my knee indicates a high chance of precipitation.

Hey, fellow meniscus-surgery-haver!

I’m really curious about that cover art.

I was in the area a few months ago and looked into visiting. Basic gist is: bring your car to a good car wash with a solid undercarriage spray ASAP after leaving the flats.

My next door neighbor tows his boat with a 10 year old Corolla. It’s only a 15' sailboat, but still.

Pretty much all of the Alaska cruises spend most of their time close to the shore. The Inner Passage (wikipedia link in my earlier comment) is basically the whole point of the Alaska cruises. Depending on the itinerary, you may have a day on one end of the trip (or both) where you’re out in the open ocean for a day,

I bring a standard nalgene bottle with twist-off cap on road trips. Hold bottle in place between thighs, use one hand to twist off cap, use that same hand to pick up bottle and sip, grip between thighs again to close. Works well enough, and my left hand never comes off the wheel.

The following rebuttal is specifically regarding Alaska cruises. I realize that they do not apply to all cruise destinations. I have no experience with cruises in other areas.

I felt the same way before going on a cruise in Alaska with my parents a few years ago. None of us had been on a cruise before. We did it because taking a cruise ship is among the more practical ways to visit a series of different coastal towns in Alaska.

-Scattante is just Performance’s store brand for road bike frames. They’re perfectly fine for most people’s needs, but you look a little silly for bragging about your Scattante frames.

Hey Doug, what parts of Maine are you visiting in your Aston? If you’re sticking to the coast, it won’t be the slightest bit out of place. The towns along Rt 1 might as well be Connecticut, just with cooler looking rocks along the coast. Even the area where that hiker got lost and died isn’t all that remote— she was
