I can see why candidates backing out of running as Independents in the General is a good thing. Establishment candidates dropping out of the Dem primaries is not good news, unless you were a fan of what happened in 2016.

I foresee Ralph Northam pulling a “Joy Ann Reid” and keeping his job, while establishment Dems whatabout-it until people forget.

I’m cautiously optimistic, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Wall St. Candidates all decided to gather around an anointed candidate at the end of 2019 to try to herd voters right before the first primary.
